Spear

  • Dated: 18th–19th century

  • Medium: Iron, wood, yak hair, and silk
  • Measurements: L. overall 74 5/8 in. (189.6 cm); L. of spearhead 20 7/8 in. (53 cm)

This is a very good example of a fighting spear, including textile and yak hair attachments that may have been added to adapt it for festival or ceremonial use. Spiraling strips of iron coil around the length of the spear shaft to reinforce the wood.
